Charlie McCann – Horse Racing News 6th March 2010
Big Fella Thanks has the John Smith’s Grand National as his end of season target and could easily find this 2m 4f trip on the sharp side. Pasco is the mount of Ruby Walsh and looks the stable’s first string given the grey has won three and finished second on his four starts at the Berkshire track.

6th Round FA Cup – Charlie McCann shares his thoughts
Saturday’s early kick off is Portsmouth v Birmingham. With cash strapped Pompey desperate for a cup run this one is difficult to call. A London Derby at the weekend too with Tottenham going to Craven Cottage. Spurs are favourites but do not count out Fulham with Zamora pushing for an England spot.
Can the Pharaohs send England back to their Mummies?
Charlie McCann’s Weekend Horse Racing Preview

Racing Post Chase day at Kempton and a number of Cheltenham aspirants put their Festival credentials on the line including Champion Hurdler Punjabi and 2010 Triumph Hurdle favourite Mille Chief. Both ought to oblige at prohibitive odds but they hardly appeal as betting propositions. Maiden Frascati Park must go right handed but failed to impress in Ireland last time and Vino Griego is well thought of at the yard of Gary Moore and can land the Grade 2 Novice Hurdle due off at 2.00.
Charlie McCann’s Weekend Sports Preview

Aston Villa are 13/8 to lift the Carling Cup on Sunday whether it be after 90 minutes, in extra time or on penalties and after their first win over the Red Devils (4/9) in 28 matches, and first at Old Trafford in 27 years earlier in the season, that price looks too big.
The Racing Post Chase February 2010
Charlie McCann gives us his thoughts about the exciting racing this weekend. The Racing Post Chase is at Kempton at 3.05pm. Can Nacarat make it back to back wins in this race?
Keep an eye out for the big names racing over the weeknd as well, Mille Chief at Kempton in the racingpost.com Adonis Juvenile Novices´ Hurdle at 3.40.

Will John Terry & Wayne Bridge shakes hands this weekend?

Stan James today opened a market on whether John Terry and Wayne Bridge will NOT shake hands before Saturday’s game between Chelsea and Manchester City at Stamford Bridge and have had to halve their opening price of 6/1 into 3’s following support.
It is our understanding that it is a English Premier League directive that all players shake hands before a PL fixture but some punters obviously believe that Terry and Bridge will swerve perceived protocol and not even make the gesture of a handshake, however cold, before the game at the Bridge.
Wayne Bridge NOT to shake hands with John Terry before the Manchester City v Chelsea game on Sat 27th February: 3/1
Champions League – Europa League, Charlie’s betting tips
Will it be a special night for the “special one?”, Ancelotti goes back to San Siro after 8 years as AC Milan manager with Chelsea, against Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in the Champions League.
The Europa League, is down to 32 teams, Liverpool remain favourites. Everton hope to grab a goal at Sporting to secure the fixture and Fulham have a tough away match with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Be lucky.
Charlie McCann reviews the 2010 John Smiths Grand National trials
The Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on Saturday appeared the better Grand National Trial of the weekend with winner Vic Venturi and runner up Black Apalachi both being cut in the betting by Stan James for the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National.
Charlie McCann’s Weekend Preview

With City, Liverpool and Spurs in action later in the day Aston Villa can climb into a Champions League slot, albeit briefly, with a convincing win against Burnley on Sunday. The fixture at Turf Moor finished 1-1 back in November but since that date the Clarets have only won one of their 12 subsequent League fixtures and look a bet at 8/11 with Stan James to be relegated this season.
Villa are a prohibitive 4/11 to gain their first League win of the year at Villa Park with the Lancashire visitors 8/1 and the draw at 7/2. With two vital Cup games on the horizon some might argue that the game means more to Burnley than to Villa, but I don’t subscribe to that and Villa h/t & f/t at 10/11 looks the ticket.
Fourth Place in the Premier League – The race is hotting up!
Charlie gives us his thoughts on who will win the 4th spot in the league. Winning that important Champions League place for next season is hotting up and the Man City v Liverpool game could prove the turning point.
Also can West Brom win away at Bristol to stake claim on the Championship? Who knows!
be lucky.
The Blue Square Gold Cup – Charlie’s thoughts
The Blue Square Gold Cup this weekend is one of the many top class races preparing runners for the Grand National and Cheltenham week.
What happens this weekend could change it all on the run up to the festival…
be lucky.
